James Licandro, D.P.M.James Licandro, D.P.M.

Dr. Jim Licandro was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. He worked for many years as a manager of automobile service areas. Furthering his training, he became a Master Mechanic. He received a degree in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University. He entered medical school in Chicago. While in school to support his children, he started a business (Jim's Computer Service). He built computers to the customer's specifications. After completing his medical degree, Jim did his medical and surgical residency at West Side Veterans Administration Hospital in Chicago.

Dr. Licandro is a podiatrist with board certification in Podiatric Primary Medical Care and Podiatric Surgery. He is on staff at Genesis Medical Center. He also does surgery at the Mississippi Valley Surgery Center. He is also on staff at Trinity Medical Center, and Select Specialty Hospitals.

Dr. Jim is a Board Certified Wound Care Specialist. With the increase in diabetes in the United States, diabetic foot care and wound care has become an invaluable field in terms of proper treatment protocol. His Bettendorf practice is comprised of a high percentage of patients diagnosed with diabetes. Dr. Licandro received extensive wound care training while doing a medical/surgical residency program down town in the heart of Chicago. It was at the VA Hospital that he was able to see and treat a wide variety of wound problems that are not commonly see in the QC area.

Dr. Licandro and his wife, Jeannine, have four children, three grandchildren, and live in Bettendorf. Their newest addition is a cockapoo puppy named Max.

Jeannine is a native of the QCA. She has been a nurse for many years with a major interest in cardiac care. She is the full time office/nurse manager of Area Wide Foot and Ankle Center. She received her Masters Degree through the Counselor Education Department of Western Illinois University. Her plans were to open a private counseling practice. That plan changed when she and Dr. Licandro were married in 1999.



Audra M. Smith, D.P.M.Audra M. Smith, D.P.M.

Dr. Audra Smith is originally from Dubuque, Iowa, and graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology. She moved to Chicago and attended the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine, an affiliate of Rosalind Franklin University. In 2008 Dr. Smith earned a degree as Doctor of Podiatric Medicine.

Dr. Smith completed a nationally-recognized, three-year residency program in podiatric medicine and advanced foot and ankle surgery at Jesse Brown VA Medical Center (Veterans’ Administration Chicago Healthcare System). By her third year Dr. Smith became chief resident and trained in the most sophisticated, state-of-the-art techniques and procedures in foot and ankle surgery. During her residency she treated a wide array of foot and ankle pathologies from the most advanced wound care to the latest techniques in arthroscopy and endoscopy, to major foot and ankle reconstruction.

Dr. Smith was awarded a European fellowship in Foot and Ankle Surgery during which she worked beside some of the most well-known orthopedic foot and ankle surgeons and trauma surgeons in the world. As a result of this fellowship, Dr. Smith is able to keep current with the latest international developments in foot and ankle surgery and patient care.

Dr. Smith’s experience has resulted in a well-trained foot and ankle surgeon as well as a proficient wound care specialist. Dr. Smith gave seminars to nurses and physicians on the nuances of wound care for the foot and ankle. She also participated in workshops in the United States and Europe on reconstructive surgical techniques, arthroscopy and limb salvage.

Dr. Smith has lectured at several postgraduate research symposiums as well as co-authored a book chapter on ankle arthroscopy, which is currently waiting publication.

Dr. Smith’s podiatric services include: forefoot, rearfoot and ankle surgery, diagnostic ultrasound, lower extremity sports injuries, bioengineered skin grafting, limb salvage, arthroscopy, fracture management, joint replacement, fusions, surgical laser techniques, diabetic foot care, charcot reconstruction, diabetic wound care and pediatric care.

Dr. Smith is currently on staff with Trinity and Genesis health care systems, and Select Specialty hospital.

Jessica Gedye

Jessica Gedye is a Medical Assistant at Area Wide Foot and Ankle Center. She is a graduate of Hamilton Technical College in Davenport with a diploma in Medical Assisting.

Misty Swift

Misty Swift is a Certified Medical Assistant at Area Wide Foot and Ankle Center. She is a graduate of Brown Mackie College with an associate degree in Medical Assisting.


Sandy GilbertSandy Gilbert

Sandy Gilbert is a Certified Medical Assistant at Area Wide Foot and Ankle Center. She is a graduate of Hamilton Technical College in Davenport with a diploma in Medical Assisting.


Tanya OlawumiTanya Olawumi

Tanya Olawumi is the receptionist and the first person you will see when you walk into Area Wide Foot and Ankle Center. She recently graduated from Kaplan University with her associate’s degree in Medical Office Management.
